Photon Water was the first company in the Czech Republic to successfully implement an in-situ container system to remove PFAS from industrial water for Jihostroj, a traditional Czech manufacturer of military and civil aviation equipment. The technology, with an efficiency of over 99.5%, also enables a 70% recycling rate of water back into the production process, bringing both environmental and economic benefits.
In 2023, a pilot phase of the project was carried out at the premises of Jihostroj, a traditional Czech manufacturer of military and civil aviation equipment, which verified the functionality of the proposed technology for two types of water: wastewater from the electroplating plant and rainwater from the plant premises.
PFAS
Perfluorinated and polyfluorinated compounds are a large group of widely used, industrially produced chemicals that accumulate in the human body and the environment and have proven negative impacts on public health.
The testing produced excellent results, confirming the high efficiency of the proposed solution with an efficiency of over 99.5%. On the basis of these results, a contract was concluded between Jihostroj and Photon Water for the supply of an in-situ container system for the recycling of electroplating plant wastewater with PFAS removal technology. The added value of the proposed technology is also a 70% recycling rate of water back into the production process, and therefore a return on investment within just a few years.
The stormwater treatment and recycling is in the permitting phase with planned implementation during 2025.
"We are proud of our cooperation with Jihostroj in dealing with PFAS contamination of water. Our technology, with an efficiency of over 99.5%, represents a significant step in protecting the environment and the health of the population. Our partnership shows how environmentally friendly solutions can contribute to the sustainability of industrial processes. With a 70% recycling rate of water back into production, we bring both environmental and economic benefits, thereby supporting a sustainable future for all."

Photon Energy
Photon Water's innovative technology for removing PFAS from water is based on a combination of membrane processes and the application of selective ion exchangers, taking advantage of their synergistic cleaning effect on both the permeate and concentrate sides of the process with high efficiency. In this way, in addition to the removal of PFAS substances with an efficiency of over 99.5%, a high rate of water recycling back into the production process is ultimately achieved.
The technology is controlled by an industrial computer with remote monitoring and graphical output directly in the Photon Matic application for online monitoring and process control.
In view of this, their use is being increasingly restricted and banned at European Union and national level. Among the sites most contaminated with PFASs are chemical plants, airports and military bases. However, the problem also affects a large number of industrial plants.
Industrial water recycling
The result of wastewater recycling is high-quality water that can be reused in industrial processes such as cooling, washing, or manufacturing. This leads to significant water savings, reduced water purchase costs, and environmentally friendly wastewater disposal.
Elimination of PFAS from water
Photon Water is introducing a breakthrough solution for safe water. Our innovative TecPFAS technology can effectively remove PFAS substances found in many water sources that can have a negative impact on human health.
Ultrafiltration
Ultrafiltration is an advanced technology that removes fine particles, microorganisms, bacteria, viruses, and other unwanted substances from water. The result is hygienically safe and crystal clear water.
If you are looking for a professional solution to PFAS contamination, the Photon Water team is ready to take on your challenge.
